“Peace out world,
I’ve had enough fun for now.”
Is a phrase I didn’t think would be misinterpreted.
All I meant by it was how I’m going on a sabbatical from societal ventures to explore what nature has to offer.
Slowing down from constantly going to open mics to refresh my mind and become inspired again.
But,
Others saw my social media post and assumed I was planning my exit from an Earth I’m not ready to leave yet.
At first it was amusing to sift through each message full of concern.
Then it hit me a few minutes after:
People are actually concerned for my wellbeing?
For the last ten years of my life,
I’ve not had nearly as many people as I do now express some kind of worry for my life.
Makes me think about the changes I’ve made in the past year,
How fast things change if you allow them to by being patient,
And,
I couldn’t be more grateful than I am now for making the one-eighty degree turn from addiction most,
Including myself,
Are afraid of choosing.
Still…
I don’t know if I should feel happy about it or not.
Because,
As much as I appreciate others looking out for me,
These messages only come during a moment of concern.
Are there any joyful reasons to seek out my company?
Am I forever left on the sidelines until I decide to step out onto a stage with a poem ready to be performed?
Who knows.
At the end of the day,
I don’t want to know anymore.
As long as I’m concerned for my own wellbeing…
