Simplicity (Monologue) – Day 340, Never Give Up On Your Dreamz

Life’s been pretty simple,
Yet,
Seemingly pointless.
I’ve been doing the usual:
Open mics,
Open mics,
And some more open mics,
Yet I’ve performed less due to how I’ve been feeling.
Monday was straight forward at KGB.
Showed up after a twenty-nine and sixty-something cent meal at Burger Head.
Paid for my seven dollar mini bottle of Canada Dry soda water.
Sat down inside of the green room for my peace to be interrupted by a young woman who couldn’t tell I wasn’t in a mood to speak.
Wrote my daily poem in the presence of a fellow rapper,
And,
Went home shortly after.
Tuesday was the same,
Different location.
My meal?
Panda Express.
Wednesday was Chipotle with a side of the same activity I take part in,
Every.
Day…
But,
Thursday?
Nothing.
Friday?
Nothing.
Exactly how I feel,
Like nothing.
And,
Nothing’s pretty simple,
Yet,
Doesn’t feel as good as it sounds.
Feels numbing,
Actually.
No anger.
Nor resentment.
Nor happiness.
Nor sadness,
Just…
Hunger for a different kind of plate.
A plate served with a smile.
At a price I can afford.
That isn’t so simple nowadays,
Isn’t it?…
