Politics are nothing, But, A sham used to divide us in ways so unnatural to the human heart. Yet, Most of us feed into it knowing love is what we’re hungry for. Sometimes I wonder, Why can’t we conserve our energy, Play our favorite demo tapes, And, Dance together celebrating our independence? Our ability to wake up, And, Choose unity rather than a reason to shame another for what they were tricked to believe in… It’s why I love Christ so dearly. Jesus allows me to seek forgiveness for my own wretched ways, And, Wrap my arms around others weeping over pain I don’t think anyone wants to feel. But, To take notice of that, We must look within ourselves. We have an obligation to look within a mirror, And, Face the Hell we’re ignited while clouded by our selfishness. We have to take this time to step back, And, See how no one is coming to save us as we spill each other’s blood in vain… Only God can do so if we give him a chance to enter our empty void, In order to bestow His everlasting grace…
