Fiddles can be heard in the background the closer I get to what paradise is,
For an inner child trying to find what made him smile before my flesh lost its innocence,
Voluntarily.
As I help him search through everglades fed tears dirtied by my refusal to let go of my past,
Part of me can’t help,

The kind of music only torment can orchestrate.
The kind you’re better off tapping your toes to,
Instead of tapping out in defeat after fighting yourself for longer than you can remember.
It’s not as terrible as one would think.
After all,
It’s an acquired taste only you can understand,
While you kindly smirk as you take as sip from your drink,
On the rocks…
