Promisez Forsaken

What are promises any good for just to break them?
Why waste the power of your words just to leave your friends and family forsaken?
At least for a soul who doesn’t carry the intention to maim and raze a foundation,
Built by credence between one another,
“I got you
And you got me even when my bones are smothered by excruciating pain in my mind…”

All for what?
For momentary love?
Or,
Just until your benefits run out with other pockets you’ve come across to steal from?
To regret breaking a bond you can only keep strong through faith and trust?
For what?
For lust you couldn’t resist to breathe in with your dirty lungs?
Always on a high,
Yet,
I often wonder why every bud most of us come across ends up crushed…

You’d think a burnt bridge is a signal strong enough for us to see,
The wildfire we spread through the ignorance we speak.
Influencing one another for our minds to stay shut while you let the Devil breathe.
Through that half empty cup of Hennessy,
All the lean as if it’ll hold you up when your floor gets slippery.
But,
I guess the synergy between us and our demons is a misery too powerful for one who wishes to live blind.
An excuse to run away from confrontations we must address in the inside…

Run away!
Go ahead and strain your heart even further while you play!
Woman after woman,
Man after man,
As if our minds and hearts are a game or a movie to replay!
While you’re looking to engage,
With an answer to your everlasting confusion as why you had to break your word,
Leaving your beloved on a curb for days.
And days.
And days…
Until years pass by with only Regret left to face…

“I should’ve just kept my mouth shut after promising her I would”

“I could’ve stayed home to hold my beloved in my arms instead of this dime I just met,
Costing me a love I now can only live through a book…”

“I would’ve kept my promise if…
I cared for us a little more instead of wishing to die,
Every time I’d look up at the sky…
