Red Ocean (2013)

Blood streams down the inside of these eyelids,
Coated with soiled tissue paper,
Ripped clothing and a half chicken rowing down the reddened sea of thought,
Picturing every red light down the street bringing these feet to a stop,
Reminding me of where I first began at the shore of this garbage-ridden ocean…

Red,
The color that triggers the bull,
The strongest color your eyes are captivated by,
At least this mammal in heavily scarred human flesh was…
Every cut,
Every war scar once upon a time bled,
Not blood but each a painful memory disguised by insidious love,
Culminated with hardships of only rocks to feed on,
Whips,
Belts and other armaments slashing,
Ricocheting off my delicacies to form into the only food my stomach was introduced to…
This terror is all that’s seen in the darkness of these eyes…

Homelessness,
Discrepancies between right or wrong,
Trapped in a flagship following simply bullshit,
All serpentined back into what dinky sanity was left…
Did it row me away in the Red Ocean?
No,
But only because serendipity allowed me to be victorious first rather than a slumlord…
